About the Speakers ...

Jonathan T. Dyer

Jon has over 38 years of water testing for the bottled water industry. In this time Jon has analyzed over 180,000 samples and performed over 1.8 million tests…he is now semi-retired.

With a B.S. in Chemistry and an M.S. in Environmental Engineering, Jon is the owner of A&L Laboratory Inc. and Radon Diagnostic Laboratories in Auburn, Maine. He also owns and operates Black Gold Farms which is a vermiculture (earthworm) research facility in Belgrade Lakes, Maine.

Jon also holds the following certifications and accreditations: NH ELAP (Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program) approved Environmental Lab Director, NH ELAP approved Technical Director for Chemistry, NH ELAP approved Technical Director for Microbiology, WQA (Water Quality Association) recognized Laboratory Director for a Recognized Testing Laboratory (RTL)…[Only one of 19 in the world, NRSB (National Radon Safety Board) Certified Radon Placement Specialist.

Steve Feltman

Steve Feltman is a food safety and quality consultant specializing in the bottled water industry. He has 17 years experience as the owner of Pequot Spring Water Company, a Glastonbury CT. based, HOD, one gallon and soft drink manufacturer/distributor, 10 years as a manufacturer’s representative visiting many different sized bottled water facilities and 1 year as Manager of Quality and Production for Primo Water Corporation. Steve was an active member of IBWA for 28 years and a Certified Plant Operator since the beginning of the program. He has served on the IBWA Communications, Education, Membership and State Associations Presidents committees. Steve is also a founding member of the Northeast Bottled Water Association and past board member of the South Atlantic Bottled Water Association. He has HACCP Certification through the Association of Food and Drug Officials, is a registered SQF Consultant with the Safe Quality Food Institute and has completed lead auditor training for SQF, BRC and FSSC22000, an ISO based food safety management system.

Barbara l. Marteney

Barbara Marteney has been with National Testing Laboratories, Ltd. (NTL) since 1994. She specializes in consulting with bottled water, beverage and food companies regarding testing requirements, quality control issues, and licensing. Along with her team of beverage market representatives, Barb maintains contact with bottled water regulators, industry associations, and the FDA regarding regulatory changes and water related issues. Barb has authored numerous articles and given presentations regarding water testing, regulations, quality control, troubleshooting, and water quality reporting. She is actively involved with industry associations as a member of the IBWA committees, and the NEBWA Board of Directors.

Joyce Parent

Joyce Parent is currently Strategic Marketing Manager at IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. Joyce has a Bachelor’s of Science from the University of New Hampshire with a Major in Medical Technology and a Minor in Psychology. She obtained her Masters in Business Administration from Thomas College. Joyce has worked at IDEXX for 16 cumulative years, holding a variety of positions from QA Manager, Regulatory Affairs Manager and various increasingly responsible positions within the marketing function. Joyce participates on many bottled water committees, including IBWA’s Technical Committee, IBWA’s Viral and Microbial Subcommittee, IBWA’s Supplier and Convention Committee, NEWBA Board of Directors and is also on the International Council of Bottled Water Associations Technical Committee.
